No one needs a spa day more than the nurturers of this world.
Teachers, are you feeling the stress of another school year? Do you feel additional pressures from new National standards and new “programs” that might be stripping away your creativity? Are budget cuts threatening your job adding to to your daily stress? Do you wish to connect with that part of yourself that inspired you to become a teacher in the first place?
Parents, whether you have toddlers or teenagers, chances are, you are feeling some stress. Now that the older kids are back to school, you can relax, right? No? Ah, no. The pressure is just getting started. Afterschool activities, top grades, maybe even a stressful college search. Don’t forget the peer pressure. And the Internet! Just what are they doing online anyway? How can you help your child make good decisions and stand up against the riding tide? No one else can tell you how to parent. There are wonderful parenting books and resources available. After you think logically on any parenting situation, I invite you to sit. If you sit and listen to your own inner voice, you will realize, very often, that you already know just what to do.
Welcome to the Spa.
Take an hour or so for yourself to unwind. Grab your journal and allow your soul to speak to you. And when you are feeling nice and relaxed, solutions will come easier and you will have the patience to be ready for the challenges that all of us teachers and parents face each day.
I make no promises. I have no answers. I am not a model teacher or parent. I am simply open, ready to work and ready to listen. You are ready too or you would not have found the writing spa.
Thank you for your work. You have the most important job in the world.
I am one of the teachers you are describing in the above. I can’t wait to start writing for myself. Thank you.
I am so glad you have joined us! Looking forward to reading more of your work, Kristin!
